Such has been the domination of Xiaomi
smartphones in India that the moment you
hear/read anything similar to 'me', you
immediately think of the smartphone brand.
Pretty soon you might see a lot of ads or
hoardings of a new smartphone brand called
Realme and it could remind you of Xiaomi's
Redmi series smartphones. However, don't
get confused as it is not part of Xiaomi's
family but is a series launched by its rival
Oppo to take on that series precisely.
Launched for the first time in India, Oppo has
offered only one smartphone in this series
called the Realme 1. With a starting price of
Rs 8,990, this smartphone will have its hands
full taking on the army of devices that
already exist in a crowded segment. Oppo
certainly has its task cut out if it wants to
establish itself as a worthy contender in this
segment. On paper, it has pretty standard
specs as any other budget device but does it
have what it takes to be the new king of the
